Pneumonia is pnot pnice

Just a quick update, which some of you already know from Facebook...

I may not be making the rounds quite as much, as the Nestling Sparrow has a fairly gnarly case of pneumonia, and we'll be going back in to the doctor's in the morning, as it's not clearing up. My nerves are shot. They did an IV drip on the Nestling right in the doctor's office this last Friday. It took seven tries before the doctor got a vein, and then an antibiotic injection on top of that, along with some anti-nausea/anti-vomiting medication. He's having a hard time keeping down food, and with that, his oral antibiotics.

I was really expecting the Nestling to be doing a lot better by now. Damn.

Thanks, all! The Nestling is doing much better today, and he goes in for another check-up on Monday.

British food is good for you. You will need cup 100z after a few months!

Mago -- I can barely find bras in my size as it is, dammit. Any worse and it'll be medieval catapults.

And if British food is good for you, how come all of Northern Ireland drops dead of heart attacks? Ulster Fry, it'll take care of what ails ye.

I've never had pneumonia but my partner has and it looked serious for a while before she rallied. A good job it wasn't oeldmonia, she'd have been a goner with that.

I hope there's a strong recovery soon, as Biffo keeps saying.

Oops, that was a bit cryptic. Biffo is of course the nickname for Brian Cowen, Ireland's Taoiseach. Ireland is currently in intensive care and not looking good.

That not the tit picture i saw last! There was deinitely more tit in it. And the bar was white - yeah - men DO see details! If them details are attached to some tits.

Nick -- It's okay, I got ya on the "Biffo" one. I still think they would have done better by calling it "Fianna WIN," but I guess that's just me, heh.

I'm glad to hear that your partner did okay, that pneumonia can be sneaky. The Nestling never even had a cough, once his cold was over. And as a child, I used to spend at least 5 months out of the year in the hospital, under an oxygen tent, because I had pneumonia. Not fun.

The Nestling had his last checkup yesterday, and he is on the mend, thank you. It'll just take a lot of rest and recuperation. He was a preemie and is Special Needs, so even at the age of 6 it takes him a bit longer to recover.

Mago -- Ha, I switched the pics. The one you saw previously was before Boobquake, and the one you saw after was evidence that I had participated in Boobquake. Now it's just back to some bird pics. If you were to join Facebook, ahem, hint hint, you would find both of the previous boobage pics in my Profile photos, just waiting for another Boobquake opportunity.

Nothing makes a parent feel more useless than watching them go through something awful like this...something so small that you can't grab it and get it away from your child.
I hope the antibiotics kick in FAST!

Conor -- Thanks, it was not fun.

Donn -- Thanks, he is doing much better now. He's still doing a lot of sighing like he can't catch his breath, but his pulse ox was back up to 100% so we think the sighing think may be either a new OCD thing or a new Tourette's tic he's picked up. If it's still there in a few weeks, we'll have him evaluated for asthma.

I was just reading in today's paper that diarrhea and pneumonia are the top killers of kids in undeveloped countries. I can believe it, they both hit so fast and so hard on the little ones.

Again, because I'm the short bus of life, I'm only seeing this now.

Fat Sparrow said...

O ha, ha, it is to laugh.

No, still working on getting my box packed, ha. And don't want to even think about packing suitcases. But we have plane tickets, we fly out 21 September.

Sorry I haven't been around, things have been... complicated.

We miss you Sparrow!

Hi XL! I miss you guys too, I've just been too depressed to go round to blogs, don't have anything to say. Now that we actually have a travel visa and plane tickets this whole moving continents thing is kinda more real, and a hella lot more scary.

Are you on Facebook? I can be found on there most days, I hate to say it but it's lighter and fluffier and takes less thinking on my part, sooo...

My link for FB's on my blog, and of course my e-mail's on there, too. I don't know how long it'll be before we will have the Internet over in Northern Ireland, gotta get jobs and thing. Good times.
